Reading Difficulties
Step 3: Focus on an aspect of your practice
“Goals for Reading” is the topic of the first three lessons in the guide.
- Read this case history—Joseph, a Beginning Reader [PDF]—to start your thinking on how personal and social risk factors may impact learning how to read and the implication for your on practice.
- Make a list of instructional strategies and implication for teaching reading skills to Joseph.
How to use this research:
- Reflect on a student in your program. How might you use the information on risk factors and the six findings when planning instruction for a particular learner?
- Try out the plan with the learner. What worked, and why did it work? What might you do differently?
